It's a question I get asked a lot. 'Where did I go? What happened to me? I use to do ___________ (fill in the blank) before I was married, had kids, in this relationship.' Whatever it is, something changed and in the process it's likely you lost yourself along the way.
It's easy for women to lose their essence of who they are when they become a "we" no matter what that form of "we" turns out to be. Amid all of the items on your to-do list it is important to ensure that you have sometime for you to enjoy something that has meaning to you. "Me" time doesn't count when you're at your kids soccer practice, or when you're waiting at the doctors office.
Yes, you can use that time to close your eyes and escape. Take that time to imagine what your version of "me" should be and then schedule an hour sometime during the week for you. Hold yourself to it, ensure that those around you know the importance of this time. In reality for each of use to be a benefit to those who matter most we need to take care of ourselves first in order to be the best supporters of those close to us.
When we take the time to connect with our inner essence we can focus on the other realities of life better. We function with more patience, care and understanding when we have taken sometime to nurture ourselves. Self-Care is the first step in leading a life of purpose, joy and fulfillment.
TAKE ACTION OPPORTUNITY
Take 15 minutes this week to decide what part of your essence is seeking to be nurtured and explore it. Take sometime to be still and the answer will come. Once you have found your answer act on it!
