Use of Drugs to Treat ADHD - Are They Necessary For Treating Symptoms?
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

One of the most important questions I often ask health experts is-is the use of drugs to treat ADHD absolutely necessary? Believe it or not, most of the health experts believe that drugs, although effective to some extent, are not the best choice to treat children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. This naturally begs the question - if they are not the best choice, what is?

In order to understand this issue better, you should first know a little about the drugs used to treat ADHD. Some of the most common drugs used to treat attention deficit disorder include Ritalin, Concerta, Wellbutrin, and Strattera. All these drugs have one thing in common-amphetamines and methylphenidate-substances that can lead to drug dependency when consumed regularly.

Yes, you read that right-drug dependency. Researchers say that using these drugs consistently can make kids more likely to take hard drugs in the future. In fact, recent studies have shown that a growing number of teenage kids have developed addictions for prescription drugs like Ritalin. It is very risky to follow the standard protocol of drugs used to treat ADHD.

The use of drugs to treat ADHD can also be dangerous due to side effects. These psychostimulant drugs can cause problems like headache, dizziness, insomnia, lack of appetite, weight loss, and hallucinations. Consuming these drugs for an extended period of time might even lead to cardiac problems.

In light of this information, you can see that the drugs used to treat ADHD are risky at best. Realizing this, many parents are turning to safer options like homeopathy. Homeopathic remedies work as effectively as drugs, but have no side effects for parents to worry about. In addition to suppressing symptoms, they also treat the cause of the disorder, in fact, over time, homeopathic remedies can restore proper brain function. Knowing this, you may choose to toss the drugs used to treat ADHD and find your child an effective, natural supplement.

When looking for a good homeopathic remedy, you should know that all products are not created equal. Look for a remedy that contains proven ingredients like verta alb and arsen iod. After you see how effectively homeopathic formulations work, you will be pleased that you had the good sense to discontinue the use of drugs to treat ADHD.
