There are posts all over the internet on how you can hack a coke machine or a beverage machine with a code and get a free soda, your money back, or have the vending machine jackpot with all of its money. I am going to say that a lot of the claims are false and not founded. There are many videos and tutorials on how to do this and in my opinion don't feel that many of them are successful and could be recreated.
OK, let's get one thing straight. If you are successful at hacking a soda vending machine for its change you are only going to get about $40.00. That is about all that a coin mechanism in the vendor is going to hold if the person who owned the machine had just refilled it. So do you think that it is worth the effort in trying to figure this out and run the risk of getting caught? Your chances of getting seen are great because most machines are in high traffic areas where people come and go all day long.
Next, on these videos they never tell you who have manufactured the machines and what type of machine they are performing this on. There are 3 major soda machine manufacturers in the United States, Sanden Vendo, Dixie Narco, and Royal. I know of one off hand that does have a code that you can put into the machine with a series of button presses but that is only accessible if the beverage machine door is open and the service mode button has been depressed. So go ahead and try to figure it out and bring some tools with you so you can get into the pop machine. Now that isn't inconspicuous.
Finally, why? What is the point? Do you think that you are getting over on someone? Are you a big bad rebel because you have maybe $40 extra dollars in your pocket but at most an extra soda? You are hurting yourself and everyone else in the long run. The more you do this the higher the prices are going to be in the long run because the owner has to cover loss. So go ahead piss a lot of other people off when they could have been enjoying a nice refreshing pop for 50 cents now they have to pay $1.00 because you decided to "hack" a machine. Anyways the "hack", as you call it, just a nicer word for stealing, has already been found out and has been fixed.
