The Best Article Directories - Fifteen Criteria to Consider When Choosing a New Article Directory

What's the best article directory? If you're finding it difficult to decide which article directories you should submit your articles to, you're not alone. It's a moving target. Read on for fifteen criteria that will help with our decision.
First of all, you need to decide on what's really important to you. Do you want a directory that has excellent articles, or one that has a friendly staff, or one where you can fix your own typos without the article having to be re-reviewed?
Those are all legitimate criteria, and there are many more. And since you're the one writing the articles, you're the one who gets to decide.
I've gone through the same decision making process, and have come up with the following list of criteria, not all of them necessarily arranged in order.
Check them out and see what you think:
1) What is the directory's Google Page Rank (PR)?
2) How many views do articles get?
3) Do I have access to my statistics?
4) How likely is it for my articles to appear on the first (or second) page of Google?
5) How easy is it to use (and do I have control over editing and deleting postings)?
6) How fast and responsive is their customer service?
7) What's the quality of the other articles in the directory? Do they make me look good by association?
8) Can I create a profile to my liking?
9) Does it make me look good? How am I introduced? By name only? As "Expert Author"?
10) What is the reader experience like? Is the lay-out easy to read? Are images and such permitted?
11) How well does my article stand out? Is it drowned out by ads and competing articles, or is it given some breathing space?
12) Is the directory dofollow or nofollow?
13) What is the quality of the visitors I get from the directory?
14) What is the number of buyers or sign-ups has it produced?
15) How many links do I get to include, and what kinds?
This list is by no means exhaustive, and the items aren't necessarily in order. But the more of them score to my liking, the higher it will rank on my best article directory list.
