Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Why isn't ADHD medication enough? This is a question many parents of ADHD children ask as they hope that a pill or medicine will solve all their ADHD problems. Wishful thinking! Loads of experiments show that a nutritious healthy diet will play a key role in any child's development and that mineral products for ADHD kids are an important element which cannot be left out.

What is the difference between vitamins and mineral products for ADHD kids? First, there are 16 essential minerals which are crucial for our bodily needs. These range from calcium to build bones and prevent osteoporosis to iron to prevent anemia. There are other minerals which are actually harmful to our bodies such as lead and mercury. Vitamins are organic and contain carbon while minerals are inorganic. Vitamins can lose their essential qualities through overcooking, processing and storage. Minerals are much more resistant to cooking, for example.

What are the best mineral products for ADHD kids and how can we make sure that they are in the foods we serve them ? Any healthy balanced diet will contain the six essential nutrients of fat, carbohydrate, protein, vitamins, mineral and water. The main minerals are calcium which is contained in most dairy products, sardines, spinach, citrus fruit, peas and beans. Magnesium can be found in pulses, cereals, nuts , milk and leafy vegetables. Potassium is another essential mineral found in bananas, meat, fruit, potatoes and tomatoes. Green leafy vegtables are rich in iron, another essential element. Sulphur and salt are other essential minerals but these are found in abundance in most of the foods we eat.

When buying any minerals and vitamins for ADHD, it is always a good idea to look for the label USP which means that it has passed the standards established by the United States Pharmocopeia and make sure that the sell by date has not expired.

Mineral products for ADHD kids will just be one element in the treatment plan you have decided for your child. That plan will include down time and green time as well as school support and parental presence. You know that the ADHD psychostimulants (Cylert, Focalin and Adderall) prescribed by the doctors are labelled as Class 2 drugs, just like cocaine and morphine and have alarming side effects. Much better and safer to look at a homeopathic remedy which can be easily integrated with minerals and vitamins for ADHD. These natural ADHD remedies are free of side effects and a much more attractive option for parents.
