I spotted my neighbor wearing the U.S Navy's dress whites the other afternoon, about to take a snapshot on the lawn, with family in tow.
What a sight! Crisp, well tailored, and even sexy.
I had no idea a woman in uniform could look so appealing.
As the dog days of summer start to fade, this is arguably the best time of year, if you like sports. Pro and college football are going to kickoff in a week and baseball is steaming toward the post-season, with all of the tension and excitement that brings, especially if your teams are in contention.
No fewer than three of my teams are in first place, so I'm going to have at least some chance to cheer in October.
But back to uniforms for a second. Which major league teams can boast the best ones?
Here's my list of the best and worst:
(1) The Chicago Cubs have a simple design that is world class and timeless, with the letter "C" in a circle. Cubs blue is a great color, too. Disclosure: Born in Chicago, you know I have a hometown favorite!
(2) The New York Yankees are also style leaders. Their NY logo is great looking on pinstripes.
(3) Boston Red Sox. Got to love that "B" and total, old school look.
And that, my friends is my short list of winners. I root for the Dodgers and the White Sox, but their uniforms don't do anything for me. As for the worst, here's a short list:
(1) Arizona Diamondbacks. You would think they could have done more with a snake as a mascot.
(2) San Francisco Giants. That orange and black might work on Halloween, but it is outright BUGLY on any other day.
(3) Toronto Blue Jays: Quick, name that team's color!
Most other suits are in the middle. One-color leaders like the Reds and the Phillies aren't good or awful. The Cardinals get an honorable mention if only because they are perennial contenders, and play better than they look. Did I miss anything?
