How to Easily Lower Your Blood Pressure Without Medication

We all know of the risks that high blood pressure, also called hypertension, carries. It is one of the major risk factors for heart attacks and strokes. In the beginning you seldom notice any symptoms or immediate problems. However, if you do not take action, it just gets worse and worse. And one day, you could have a serious health problem. For this reason some people call hypertension the silent killer.

The standard response to hypertension is medication. But for a lot of people, medication will not solve the problem. Just relying on drugs, without changing your life style very often means that your blood pressure starts rising again after a while. You get stronger medication which lowers your blood pressure for a while but soon it starts to rise again. So you get more medication which helps for a while and so on.

Another problem with drugs is that many of them have potential side effects. And the more drugs you use, the more the risk for harmful side effects increases. Sadly, most people end up on medications for the rest of their life.

For most people, trying to lower your blood pressure naturally is much better than relying on drugs. For some people who have been on medication and used natural remedies, it has been possible to stop using the medication. By changing their life style and doing simple exercises they have managed to lower their blood pressure enough so that medication is not needed anymore. The natural remedies for hypertension are well known. The standard solutions are healthier food habits, more exercise and relaxation. Not only can the natural remedies lower your blood pressure but they have positive side effects as well. You become fitter and sleep better, just to mention two of the additional benefits.

Relaxation exercises can be everything from simple breathing exercises to advanced meditation. Just taking time to relax and breathe slowly each day has helped a lot of people to lower their blood pressure. Of course, this does not happen overnight but for many of those who have been doing a simple 15 minute breathing exercise every day amazing improvements have been noticed after just a few weeks.

If you are suffering from hypertension, it is important to start as early as possible to try to get your blood pressure down towards normal levels. The sooner you start, the easier it is to get results.
