When scientists make a projection on what the Earth will look like in the future, global warming is an issue that looms large. On ABC, a program called Earth 2100 was aired on June 2nd at 9PM. The program was to be about what the Earth will look like at 2100 and is narrated by a fictitious character born on this very same date by the name of Lucy.

The major theme of the program was global warming. Here are the major global warming concepts that were highlighted in the program.

• Cheap gasoline will no longer be readily available. Rising gasoline prices will cause an increase in the use of coal energy which pumps out a large amount of carbon dioxide into the air.
• The warmer weather will cause drought conditions around the Earth.
• Massive migrations from country to country will result.
• Major cities in the southwest, such as Las Vegas, will result in drought and run out of water. This was caused by drying up of Lake Mead and the Colorado River.
• Desalinization will be necessary in places such as San Diego.
• Resources are running out.
• Countries like India and China will consider it unfair that they have to curb their growth when they see the United States doing nothing.
• Half of Bangladesh will be under water and the Bangladeshis will be pushing along the Indian border.
• We are experiencing a mass extinction as we cut down our resources and the environment changes.

There were many more discussed in this program and many more that have been observed by scientists.
