Drugs For ADHD - Is This the Only Solution?
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Why are so many parents so hooked on drugs for ADHD? Partly because of the persuasive and devastatingly effective publicity campaign carried out by the drug companies. Only problem is that ADHD medication is just part of the answer to a very complex problem as anyone with an ADHD child will tell you. If there is no follow up at all to drugs for ADHD such as educating the child to learn self- management and self- control, the child risks carrying the condition into his adult life or remain on the drugs for a very long time.

Common drugs for ADHD do not come cheap. A year's supply of Adderall can run to $1,300 or more. I believe that Dexedrine is cheaper but unless you qualify for Medicaid or have some health insurance which covers mental health disorders, then you might want to consider an alternative. ADHD homeopathic remedies are much cheaper and they are also much safer but the drug companies will persuade you otherwise.

Apart from the price there are other concerns which tend to keep parents awake at night. The first one is that if your child is on antidepressants, there is a FDA warning you should be aware of , just in case your doctor forgot to tell you ! The warning is of possible suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, anxiety and deeper depression. The antidepressants to carry this warning are Zoloft, Prozac, Welbutrin and Lexapro which are very common drugs for ADHD at the moment. As children are particularly vulnerable, this warning should not be taken so lightly.

So are drugs for ADHD the only solution? Why do we have to put up with all these uncertainties, warnings and general risky effects? Surely there must be some form of medication which is free of unpleasant side effects and can improve concentration, reduce restlessness and outbursts. There is but do not ask your doctor about it unless he is a homeopathic practitioner. The ADHD natural cures in the link below are less expensive, safer and there are no side effects. They will do a great job in alleviating ADHD symptoms and there is no risk of drug abuse either. You can find out more from the link below this article.
