Cash For Your Books and DVDs? How to Sell Books, DVDs, and CDs Online For Holiday Spending Cash
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Want cash for your books? Now is the time. It's the season for selling, so clear out your no-longer-needed books and other media products that may clutter up your space, and turn them into extra holiday spending money. Read on to find out how to do it easily and get the most bucks for your books.

You know that eBay has helped people sell their no longer needed items for years. You've probably also discovered that there are several drawbacks. It takes a lot of work to list and sell items on eBay, and then there are listing fees to boot. And they can add up quickly, especially if your items don't sell.

Amazon.com on the other hand makes selling books online very easy, thanks to its Marketplace, and it even provides free advertising. And there never any fees until the items sell.

How to get the most money for your books?

But how exactly do you get the most money for your books? It's not as easy as it seems. Some things sell for more on eBay than on Amazon, and with some it's the reverse. And a few things need to go to an entirely different marketplace.

And that's if they sell at all. All the beautiful listings in the world aren't going to help you if there's no market for your book where you're listing it.

Amazon vs. eBay

When it comes to media products, Amazon.com offers many advantages over eBay.

Listing is easier on Amazon

Listing books and other items takes less than a minute, once you understand how to work with Amazon.com Marketplace.

Strategies for increasing your pay day

Selling on Amazon.com Marketplace may be easy, especially if the book is in demand and you don't care how much you get for yours. However, getting the most for your items can be a bit more challenging. For that, it helps to check out the competition and the prices for previously sold items. After all, you deserve a fair price in return for your treasures and your efforts.

You also need to know what things to sell on Amazon, and what to sell on eBay and other sites. You could sell something on Amazon.com for double or more of the price you could get for the same item on eBay, but sometimes it's the reverse.

Timing is key: cash in on seasonal spending trends

But the most important thing is to know when to list things: The time to take action is in September and October. More books and other media mail type items sell between September and the end of January than during the entire rest of the year.

As we've seen, the perfect time to sell your books, CDs, and DVDs is from September through January , and the best place to sell (most things) is Amazon.com Marketplace.

If you want an unfair advantage (or a shortcut), check out Elisabeth Kuhn's insider guide Amazon.com Marketplace Strategies and turn your no longer needed books, CDs, DVDs and other things into extra holiday cash -- or an entire new business.
