ADHD Alternative Therapy - An Opportunity For Parents
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

It is alarming to read in a blog that some family doctors in the UK are still refusing to even acknowledge that a child may have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) because the child is, in their opinion, just badly behaved ! This is the other extreme from where doctors will prescribe psychostimulants at the drop of a hat and they will not even consider ADHD alternative therapy, because it does not pay them to do so.

Many of these doctors and consultants are in the pay of the drug companies and one report claims that these doctors are five times more likely to prescribe ADHD drugs (Ritalin, Concerta, Adderall) than doctors who have remained outside the Big Pharm loop. There will be scant advice on how to deal with ADHD children, as ADHD therapy for them is mere medication. There will be much discussion on getting the dose right, some risk of side effects and then it is 'Next please'.

Apart from deciding about what type of medication is best and whether ADHD alternative therapy just consists of a natural cure with a few herbs and the right vitamins, wise parents will know that the matter is not that simple. I was encouraged to read about some Local Education Authorities in the UK have initiated 'ADHD Care Pathways'. This is where wraparound support is given to ADHD children so that medication , school support, parental/home support all work in tandem. They are working together for the benefit of the child. That for me is the best possible ADHD therapy.

Parental support means working with the school but also providing a loving acceptance in the home environment so that children will never feel neglected or that there is a vacuum in their lives. It is where this acceptance is lacking that other disorders like eating disorders, sexual and drug addictions and depression raise their ugly heads.

ADHD therapy is a combination of all the above and also where due attention is given to nutrition, sleep and exercise. As regards ADHD medication, the best of all , in my opinion, is a natural herbal /homeopathic cure because there is no risk at all of side effects and/or of drug addiction. They are equally effective in improving concentration, reducing hyperactivity and impulsivity in ADHD children. It is a sobering thought that our children are drugged for a mere 'disorder'. For the best possible ADHD alternative therapy which your doctor will not even mention, try visiting the link below. It is a company with a fine record and offers guarantees which are second to none.
